About Us

Welcome To Red Birdie Golf

Hey there and thanks for visiting this website!  Before I jump into a bunch of boring stuff about who I am and start putting you to sleep, let’s first jump into how this site is going to benefit you, our reader.

What’s In It For You

So why should you read the content on Red Birdie Golf?  Great question! I would like to think the main reason you should check us out is because you love the game of golf (yet occasionally hate it) and you’re looking for a reliable resource to help you improve and lower your scores.

If any of the following statements strike a chord with you, you’ll enjoy what you come across on our site:

  • You love the game of golf and you want feedback from real life golfers who feel the same.
  • You want a resource more geared towards the beginner/high handicapper and mid handicapper.
  • You want advice based on actual golfer experiences and not manufacturer sales pages.
  • You have a passion for the latest in golf tech and want to be kept in the loop.

If any of this resonates with you, we look forward to serving you by reading our guides and reviews.  Please feel free to start here to check out our “Beginners Guide To Playing Golf”.

About Me

Hey there…again!  My name is Brian Peña and I have been playing the game of golf on and off for about 30 years.  I first picked up the game at the age of 12 when my dad started playing as well. I enjoyed playing back then but I didn’t love it the way I do today.  It was really just an opportunity to spend time with my dad since he was always extremely busy.

When I was a 14 year old freshman, I decided to try out for my high school golf team. Disappointingly, I didn’t shoot well enough during the tryouts to make the team and so I decided to stop playing.

Fast forward 6 years and this guy named Tiger Woods burst onto the golf scene.  He all of a sudden made golf cool, so I started playing again as well.

From that point forward I’ve been playing golf fairly consistently with a few long gaps in between rounds.  When playing consistently, the best round I round I shot was a 74 at Red Rock Arroyo in Las Vegas.

Today, with family obligations, I don’t get to play as much and I’m only able to get out maybe once a month.  I’ll usually shoot in the mid to low 80’s but on occasion, break 80.

So over the years, golf tech has changed a lot and there are so many manufacturers as well that it can sometimes feel overwhelming.  With that in mind:

Our vision is to help beginner and intermediate golfers better understand the game and inform them about the best products on the market so that they can play their best and enjoy the game to the fullest.

Content Creation

Every piece of content on Red Birdie Golf has been planned and edited by myself to make sure it meets our high quality standards.  To be totally transparent, I do use freelance writers to help put some content together but nothing is ever published for you to see without an approval from yours truly.  Again, this is to make sure our content is accurate and that you can trust us when making a purchasing decision.

To the extent that we can, we try to physically get a hold of the items we mention in this blog to get real-life exposure.  However, it’s not always an option so we rely heavily on thorough online feedback from real golfers using these products.

Finally, in an effort to best serve our readers, our goal is to make Red Birdie Golf a website you can trust which isn’t biased by brand sponsorship.  Our content is intended to educate our readers so that they can make the best possible decision when it comes to golf related equipment.
