Opened in May 1976, it consistently ranks as one of the country’s top resorts. Kiawah Island Golf Resort is home to five championship golf courses, most notably The Ocean Course, added in 1991. Best known for its golf courses, the resort also contains the Roy Barth Tennis Center, which features 22 tennis courts and is home to the Barth-Hawtin Tennis Academy.

Seth Raynor designed the course at Yeamans Hall Club in South Carolina in 1925. The course was completed in June 1925. It has been called “a time capsule in Charleston” in appreciation of it embodying all that is good in traditional golf course design.

Prior to the development of Congaree into a golf course, it had long been an estate known by other names. Its earliest known date of existence is 1770. Congaree was named Golf Digest’s best new private course for 2018, as well as being named the best golf course built during the decade of 2010–2019. Architect Tom Fazio designed the championship course to fit in with its natural surroundings.

Palmetto Golf Club was founded in 1892 by Thomas Hitchcock. Herbert Leeds and James Mackrell, Palmetto’s first golf professional, extended the course to 18 holes in 1895. The green complexes at Palmetto are a delight and their current size is the result of Gil Hanse’s restoration work, which pushed the putting surfaces outwards utilising the existing mounds to great effect.

Designed by Pete and Alice Dye, the Long Cove course opened in 1981. Dye constructed the Bermuda grass fairways at Long Cove to be wider than on previous designs, with more room for ordinary golfers to remain in contention. Long Cove was originally routed by Frank Duane and his then-partner Arnold Palmer in the early 1970s.
