1. Southern Hills Country Club

The club was established in 1935 from land donated by multimillionaire oilman Waite Phillips. They commissioned Perry Maxwell, a local Oklahoman, to design the course and it opened for play in 1935. Southern Hills has hosted seven major championships for men, including the U.S. Open three times (1958, 1977, 2001) and four PGA Championships (1970, 1982, 1994, 2007).

Like other courses in Oklahoma, Oak Tree is a very windy course and can often have winds of at least 30 miles per hour. The course was designed by Pete Dye, and it opened in 1976. Pete Dye updated his original design in 2002, adding extra tees and replacing all the greens with more gently contoured putting surfaces but Oak Tree still remains a beast from the back markers.

Karsten Creek Golf Club was named after the founder of Ping, the late Karsten Solheim, and the course was fashioned by Tom Fazio. It replaced Lakeside Golf Course as the home course of the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Men’s and Women’s golf teams in 1994. Karsten Creek now stands as one of the most respected college golf courses in America.

Architect Randy Hackenkemper fashioned the 18-hole layout at Territory Golf & Country Club on the outskirts of Duncan in Stephens County, with the course opening to members and their guests in 2003. The course is part of a master planned community but the housing elements built so far have had a minimal effect on the aesthetics of the surrounding landscape.

The golf course hosted the PGA Championship in 1935. Designed and built by Perry Maxwell on its present 160-acre site. Soon after completing the course, these founders sold the course to the Dorset Carter family. The official founding date of Twin Hills came in 1923. This date coincides with the date the clubhouse was completed, and the Club was officially incorporated as member-owned in 1946.

Since 1986, it has been the host course for many events, including the NCAA Championship, AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions and the Oklahoma Open. Oak Tree Country Club opened for business just a couple of years after its near neighbour debuted in 1976. The West course was unveiled in 1978.
